Chrome extension permissions and privacy

The toolbar timer needs your Keito connection. A button on GitHub or Basecamp needs additional site access that you enable separately in Settings. A new installation starts with both sites off.

Site Chrome access What Keito uses
GitHub https://github.com/* A selected issue or pull request’s title, link, and identifiers after you choose Use this item.
Basecamp 5 https://app.basecamp.com/* and https://3.basecamp.com/* Account, project, and to-do identifiers from the selected page; the Keito Basecamp integration resolves the title and linked project.

Keito does not record your browsing history or time spent on unrelated pages. It does not use GitHub or Basecamp site access to write time back to those services. The extension requests access to a supported site when you enable it; the browser shows the exact host grant.

Change site access

  1. Select the Keito toolbar icon, then Settings.
  2. Turn the site on or choose Disable to remove its Keito button from open tabs.
  3. When disabling, choose whether Chrome should keep or remove the site’s host access. You can also change access in Chrome’s extension settings.

Removing a host grant while a site is enabled makes its status Access revoked in Chrome. Return to Keito settings and grant access again to restore the button. Changing site access does not erase time already saved in Keito.

Sign out

Select Sign out in the popup or extension settings to end this browser profile’s Keito connection. Signing out does not stop a running timer or delete saved entries. Stop the timer first if you have finished work. If the session expires or is revoked, connect again; your existing Keito time remains in the workspace.

For the full data handling statement, read the Keito privacy policy. For key creation and revocation, see API keys.
