Asana Integration
Private beta: The Asana integration is in development and is not generally available yet. Join the waitlist to request access.
Keito’s Asana integration puts a track-time form and a time summary directly on Asana tasks. It uses Asana App Components, so there is no browser extension to install and the same workflow is available in supported Asana web and desktop clients.
Requirements
- A paid Keito plan, including Solo.
- A Keito workspace owner or administrator to make the first workspace connection.
- Access to the private beta and the Keito app in Asana.
- Each team member must connect their own Asana and Keito identities before they can track time.
What It Does
- Starts a live Keito timer or records a completed duration from an Asana task.
- Stores the Asana task name, stable task ID, and link on the Keito time entry.
- Remembers the Keito project and task selected for an Asana task. The shared mapping is available to other workspace members who can access the selected Keito records.
- Shows team time, the current viewer’s time, and running-timer state in the Asana task widget.
- Links from the widget to an Asana-filtered Keito time report.
Time moves from Asana into Keito only. Keito does not update Asana’s native time-tracking fields, timesheets, task comments, or rules.
Connect The Workspace
The first connection establishes which Asana workspace belongs to which Keito workspace.
- In Keito, go to Settings > Integrations > Asana.
- Confirm that the integration is enabled for your workspace.
- In an Asana project, open Customize > Apps > Add app and choose Keito.
- Authorise Asana, then sign in to Keito when prompted.
- Return to the Asana task and open Track time in Keito.
The first person connecting an Asana workspace must be a Keito owner or administrator. After that, each team member connects their own account so entries are attributed to the correct Keito user.
Track Time From A Task
- Open an Asana task and choose Track time in Keito.
- Select the Keito project and task. If someone has tracked this Asana task before, accessible selections are prefilled.
- Keep the Asana task title in Notes or edit it as needed.
- Leave Duration blank to start a live timer, or enter a duration such as
1:30,90m, or1.5hto record completed time. - If another timer is running, explicitly choose whether to switch; Keito never replaces it silently.
- Submit the form. Asana attaches the Keito Time Tracking resource to the task, which activates the time summary widget.
The widget does not tick every second. It shows the current timer state and refreshes when Asana renders the task. Live elapsed time remains available in Keito’s own timer surfaces.
Shared Project And Task Mapping
After a successful entry, Keito remembers the selected Keito project and task for that Asana task. The mapping is shared across the connected workspace, but Keito only prefills records the current viewer is allowed to use. If a project or task becomes inactive or inaccessible, the viewer must choose another one.
Disconnect
- A team member can disconnect their own identity from Settings > Integrations > Asana. Their existing Keito entries remain.
- A Keito owner or administrator can disable the workspace integration. This immediately prevents connected users from using the Asana component until it is enabled and authorised again.
- Removing Keito from an Asana project removes the task entry point and widget from that project; it does not delete Keito time entries.
Troubleshooting
The form asks me to connect
Complete both the Asana authorisation and Keito sign-in using the identities that belong to the connected workspaces. Each user must make this connection once.
The previous project or task is not prefilled
The saved selection may be inactive or unavailable to your Keito user. Choose an accessible project and task; a successful entry updates the shared mapping.
Another timer is already running
Select the switch option in the form to stop the current timer and begin this one. To preserve the current timer, close the form or record a completed duration instead.
I cannot find Keito in Asana
The integration is still in private beta. Confirm that your Asana workspace has been added to the beta and that a project administrator has added the app through Customize > Apps.
