Offline Time Tracking on Desktop

Keito Desktop v0.1.84 and later can save timer starts, stops and completed time on your device while you are disconnected, then sync when you reconnect. This is available in the Mac, Windows and Linux apps.

Before You Go Offline

  1. Update Keito Desktop to v0.1.84 or later.
  2. Open Keito while connected and sign in to the account and workspace you will use. Let your projects and tasks load.
  3. Open Settings → Timer accuracy and check that Offline tracking is on. It is enabled by default.
  4. Keep the app running when you lose your connection.

Offline capture uses the session already verified in the running app. After quitting and reopening, reconnect and sign in before tracking again. A previously saved sign-in does not let you launch into a new offline session.

Record Time Without a Connection

While your signed-in session remains valid, you can:

  • Start a timer against an available project and task.
  • Stop that timer when you finish.
  • Use Log time to save completed work.

Keito keeps the original work date, timer start and stop times, and elapsed time. Reconnecting later does not move the entry to the reconnect date or keep a stopped timer running through the outage.

For example, if you start at 09:00 and stop at 09:30 while offline, reconnecting at 11:00 syncs 30 minutes of work with the original times. It does not record two hours.

This recovery preserves time you actually captured; it does not change the workspace’s ordinary Past timer starts policy.

Reconnect and Sync

Reconnect with the same account and workspace to sync pending work. Keito saves pending time locally, including across an app restart, but it needs a verified online sign-in after a restart before it can sync again.

If your session expires while you are offline, new timer starts and completed-time saves need a fresh sign-in. You can still stop a timer the running app was already tracking; its saved stop waits for you to reconnect and sign in again.

Wait for pending work to sync before clearing Keito’s local app data. Saved offline work is not in your cloud timesheet until synchronization succeeds.

Review Time That Needs Attention

Keito keeps conflicting work saved for review. For example, another device may have started a timer, or an entry or workspace rule may have changed before your offline time arrived. Keito does not replace that other timer or silently recreate a changed or deleted entry.

  1. Open Review offline time in the app’s status banner.
  2. Read the reason shown and check the current timer or entry in Keito. If you have another running timer, stop it when you are ready.
  3. Reconnect, sign in if needed, and choose Retry sync.

If the issue remains, keep the saved work and contact support. Avoid entering the same time again while its delivery is uncertain, as that could create a duplicate.

Editing or deleting existing time can require a connection. Older queued actions may also need review rather than syncing automatically.

Turn Offline Tracking Off

In Settings → Timer accuracy, turn Offline tracking off.

Action What happens when the setting is off
Start a new timer or log completed time without a connection Reconnect or enable Offline tracking first.
Stop a timer already running in the app You can still stop it and retain its stop time.
Time already waiting to sync It stays saved and can sync when you reconnect.
Existing cloud time entries They are unchanged.

The setting is a preference for this desktop app. Turning it off does not discard pending time.
